Check out my interview on The Pen and Muse Book Reviews Blog

The Pen and Muse Book Review published my first author interview! If you're interested in the story behind Here for the Cake, check it out.

Here's an excerpt of the interview:

What inspires you and what got you into writing?

When I bought a kindle, I found out that I could buy romance novels for under $3 and it was pretty much a wrap. I have always loved chick lit and romantic comedy narratives. I started writing

Here for the Cake as an escape and I just fell in love with the creative writing process. I looked into self-publishing and realized that writing my book and putting it out there was an achievable dream. After several bottles of red wine, I saw the quote “If not now, when?” pinned on to a few Pinterest accounts I was following and figured it was the sign I needed. I committed myself to writing full-time.

A Great Review from Ms. Terry Mitchell of Chick Lit Plus

It's an incredible gift as a burgeoning writer to get a review from a great blog like Chick Lit Plus. Samantha March was one of the first bloggers that responded to my email asking for a review. Knowing now how many review requests book bloggers get, I'm even more grateful that she agreed to review Here for the Cake on Chick lit Plus.

Terry Mitchell's review was fabulous. Written in this very honest, conversational voice that made me feel like we were chatting over coffee together. Here are some of my favorite quotes:

"That beginning sounds like a silly romance story gone wrong. But honestly throughout the story there is a depth that is often hidden under the surface. Which makes this a unique and lovable story."

"I enjoyed each and every character in the story. Some like Ella and Cynthia and the other snotty ladies I loved to hate, but I also could not get enough of Mina and Josie and Salma and even Simon and Ben. Truly each character was developed and very real to me."

And if you've been living under a rock and haven't checked out Chick Lit Plus by now, handle that. Whether you're an avid reader looking for the scoop on the romance genre or a writer looking for advice or support in publishing your novel, Chick Lit Plus is an incredible resource. They have everything: author interviews, book reviews, tips for writers, writer services (advertising, editing, marketing, etc). Seriously...go there.

Review of Here for the Cake on The Blushing Reader

The Blushing Reader is a blog I've been following since I started writing Here for the Cake. I was immediately attracted to the blog's crisp femininity and quirky aesthetics. The reviews are thorough, engaging, and intelligent. Michelle is a very smart writer and her site has everything, giveaways, reviews, book playlists, and interviews. I particularly love her interviews because she asks such unconventional questions.

As a new romance writer, The Blushing Reader was definitely a way for me to be anchored in the romance world before I ever published. I was so thrilled when she agreed to take a chance on a newbie like me.

True to form, Michelle wrote a wonderful review. In fact, her review is so well-written and quotable that I had a rather difficult time choosing quotes to share.

The Highlights

Here for the Cake is one of those books that you find and are BLOWN away with how funny, witty, emotional and just wonderful it is...Emily Poule took romantic comedy and knocked it out of the park!

Here for the Cake was funny, in a fantastic snarky/witty humor that had me waiting to see what else would come out of these characters mouths! I actually choked on my drink and laughed out loud more than once.  I fell in love with the writing style and all the crazy characters in this book right off the bat.  Emily Poule's flow, pacing and comedic timing were a perfect especially when combined with this grand-gesture scheme that Ben and Mina are about to embark on.

If you are in the mood for something funny, kind of crazy with a cast of characters that you can't help but fall in love with, then Here for the Cake is the perfect book for you!  Emily Poule is an author to keep and eye on, I have a feeling we will be hearing about her a lot in the future!

Michelle's review includes a book summary, a new excerpt, and a book playlist.

Here for the Cake Spotlight and Giveaway on Love Between the Sheets

First of all, from the moment I saw this website, I was totally in love.  It's visually captivating, vintage pink and grey, and completely owns the spirit of the genre. Needless to say, I was complete shit show when they agreed to review Here for the Cake.

Love Between the Sheets offered such a nuanced spotlight of the book. Here are some highlights from Mary's review:

I’ll say it,  I want to marry this book! One of the better books I’ve read this year.  I have a feeling that it will blow all my future reads out of the water.  It was not only fun and witty, nut also emotional.  I felt like I was sucked into one amazing romantic comedy.  One that I would watch again and again.

Best part of this book was the dialogue between these friends.   They all knew each other so well.  They could relive the past and be close again.   The shenanigans were beyond hilarious and I was a bit envious of all their fun.  Honestly if Mina was going to embark on a do or die situation she was definitely surrounded by the perfect people.

This book gave me everything that I was looking for and so much more.   I wasn’t sure if Emily was going to break my heart in the end or build it up.   It was far from predictable.  A smart, fun, enjoyable, and highly emotional book that you will sure to fall in love with.   I can’t wait to read more from this author and will surely be reading this again.

And of course, the most exciting part of the review is definitely the  GIVEAWAY. Love Between the Sheets is giving away 5 copies of Here for the Cake in a raffle.
